Guests have commented that visiting this cabin is like staying at the home of an out-of-town friend. It has all the comforts of home as well as the privacy of the woods, the beauty of the mountains and the activities of a resort area.
The cathedral ceiling and clerestory windows give the living/dining room natural light and a spacious feeling. A fire (wood burning, not gas logs) in the stone fireplace makes the room cozy after skiing or on cool summer days as guests relax with cable TV, a video in the VCR or music on the CD/cassette player. A small assortment of videos and CD's are provided.
The dining room table seats six comfortably. For additional seating, four barstools line the counter that separates the kitchen from the dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with range, microwave, dishwasher, dishes and cooking utensils. Glass doors from both the living and dining area open out to the front deck. A washer and dryer are located in the hall adjacent to the dining area.
Handmade quilts cover the beds in the two vaulted-ceiling bedrooms, which also open to the deck via glass doors. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and is located next to the 4-person jacuzzi, a great comfort after skiing or hiking. Adjoining the jacuzzi room is a bathroom and access to a small, walled side deck.
The second bedroom has twin beds and access to a cozy sleeping loft, furnished with two foam flip chair sleepers, which unfold to twin size. A second bathroom serves this side of the cabin. All bed, bath and kitchen linens are provided.
The cabin was built 15 years ago and is in very good condition. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living room keep guests cool on warm summer days. A large deck runs along the entire front length of the cabin and is equipped with a barbecue grill, a picnic table and several chairs. In the winter, the ski slope can be seen in the distance.
Located at 4,500' elevation on Seven Devils Mountain, it is within walking distance (1/2 mile) to Hawksnest Ski and Golf Resort. The driveway comes directly to the back door, providing level entry. With no condominiums nearby, the quiet, heavily wooded residential area has a mix of full-time residents and owners/ renters. The community is very secure.
